Arizona Diamondbacks Academy Turf Restoration

A complete restoration of the existing natural turf on the Arizona Diamondbacks academy's three playing fields and agility field, completed ahead of its inauguration.

The Arizona Diamondbacks academy already had its three playing fields and its agility field when Orlova Sports Construction came in — built by others, and not in a condition the club could open on. The turf had to be brought back before the academy could be inaugurated and begin operations, and it was: the academy opened on the restored fields.

The work was a restoration, not a replacement. Rather than strip the grass and start again, Orlova worked the root zone beneath the surface and the turf above it: levelling the playing surface, aerating to reopen the soil profile, and running the fertility and turf-health programme that let the existing grass recover and knit back together on its own. The specialised red-clay elements were restored within the same scope — the infield skin, the pitching mound and the warning track, with the grass lips where turf meets clay re-cut so the transitions run true.

Orlova has maintained the academy's fields since.
